Job Overview
The Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Locator Technician is responsible for all aspects of electronically, and physically locating underground utilities.Job Responsibilities
- Locate underground utilities using Pipe and cable locators, Ground Penetrating Radar, and other electromagnetic locating devices.
- Mark the location of underground utilities accurately and efficiently.
- Read and understand the utility-provided maps to assist in the identification of underground utilities.
- Complete the detailed and accurate daily report sheets outlining work performed and time spent on job tasks.
- Adheres to CDS Muery safety standards to ensure clients and contractors suffer no damages or injuries due to mislocated utilities.
- Set up maintenance of traffic as directed.
- Maintain a safe work site environment for all utility crewmembers.
- Ensure daily routine maintenance of SUE equipment and work vehicles.
Qualifications, Experience, and Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in locating underground utilities.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work in all climates.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend/stoop/kneel/crawl.
- Ability to travel if needed.
- OSHA Safety certifications are a plus.
- Survey background a plus.
- Be able to travel weekly.
- Proven ability to complete projects and programs according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline under minimal supervision.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
